Branding is crucial to every business, but it's so much more than a few colors, nice fonts and a fancy logo. It tells people that you care about what you deliver, that you live up to what you promise, and it shows off a glimmer of your personality — after all, it's the make-up for your public image; an identity that people can relate to.

Managed well, branding can meet customers' expectations and drive your authority through the roof. You'll see a surge in new customers, leads, and conversions if you do one thing to your entire brand: make it consistent.

So how do you do that?

We suggest that you should “think of your brand as a person.” You’re creating a character, a personality, a placeholder for your business as a whole—the approach should be as holistic as possible.

Steps involved in brand building are,

📣Describe your brand: The first step of brand building is to describe the brand. This can be done through product description, packaging, logos etc. The way a brand is defined builds the brand equity and forms the foundation of the customer perception.

📣Brand Differentiation & Positioning: Once a product or service is created, it is critical that the brand is differentiated from its competition with some unique value. Also, positioning the brand correctly is an essential element of brand building

📣 Promotion: Advertising & promoting the brand using TVCs, social media, print ads, online advertising etc is one of the most important pillars of brand building as it helps in creating brand awareness. Correct communication and effective media channels can help build a strong brand and helps increase brand recall.

📣Personalise the Brand: Brand building can be effective is a customer feels connected to it. Hence giving a personal touch to the customer, through innovation and customization can help building a stronger perception in the mind of the customer.

📣Evaluate the Brand: It is important that a company keeps on monitoring and reviewing the performance of its products, services and brands. Hence evaluation & review of a brand is an essential element of brand building.

Brand building strategies should be adopted accordingly which helps in creating and differentiating brand value and developing right impression for the company for which it truly stands. Depending on your brand building exercises, your brand may grow, remain stagnant or recede with time. So in brand cycle there is continuous need of bringing new strategies, events and activities that maintain the brand promise. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn—the list Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn—the list of social media platforms is a long one, and chances are, your brand is represented on more than one. Management of these accounts is key for developing an impactful brand image—to keep your brand looking good from every angle.

Simple, right? Not so much.

Here’s where things get tricky: while staying consistent is key, each social platform is unique and requires a different approach. An article published for Social Media Week 2015 suggests taking “the different personality types of social media users and where they play” into consideration, which will “help you make better decisions of when it might be okay to share content across channels. SMW also recommends that you “establish conversation guidelines for your community manager that will open more opportunities for real-time content on more fast-paced channels like Twitter.”

Your social media image should also be reflected in other assets. It’s just as important to align your brand image on your website and in email marketing campaigns with your brand image on social. Overall, the goal should be to represent a unified theme across all outlets.

You associate Nike and their logo because they've been consistent with it. After all, you've seen their signature tick on every piece of clothing they produce.

A brand is what people will remember most about your company, so it needs to be representative, strong, consistent and instantly memorable if you want to make a lasting impression.
You want to be their go-to company: customers should feel as though they could recommend you to friends and family, or call on you when they need additional products or services. Plus, your customers expect great design and consistent branding. For today’s customers, consistent branding and good design are key components when evaluating whether or not they do business with you.

Ultimately, brand consistency has an extensive trickle-down effect that, when implemented correctly, can boost your bottom line, brand status, and employee morale. But unfortunately, inconsistent branding jeopardizes all that.
